The most demanding position in the game of paintball is the paintball sniper. It requires the player to have the right speed, alertness and the ability to hide and shoot even from long ranges. We all know that masks and vests are the essential items for a paintball game and so are these items as well:
- Neck Guard, to protect your neck from the paintball hits.
Brett Favre hasn't yet announced a comeback for the 2010-11 football season, but Minnesota Vikings fans aren't fretting. The 40-year-old quarterback is once again making headlines this offseason by skirting the issue of whether he will or won't lead the Vikes through one more season on the football field, but all signs point to him returning for (at least) one last hurrah.
Favre isn't likely to retire before this year, his 20th career season in the NFL, but at this point his return hinges on a few things - most importantly, his physical health.
Training camps are almost in session, and that means the 32 teams around the NFL are taking stock of what they have and what they need before the start of the regular season. For several teams across the league, starting quarterbacks next year will be different marquee players than they have been for many years before. This is sure to provide some excitement around the league following offseason revelations, and here are some quarterback battles to watch as players compete for the starting QB jobs with their respective teams.
Denver Broncos: Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn and Tim Tebow.
By this time in Carson Palmer's career, he was expected to be nothing short of one of the best quarterbacks in the league, one likely headed straight to Canton when his career was over. But after a devastating knee injury and difficulties throughout the Cincinnati organization, Palmer is no longer an elite quarterback in the league and is hovering just above mediocrity among starting signal callers. Heading into this season in the wide open AFC, however, Palmer has a good team behind him that has the potential to get back to the playoffs.
Everyone knows that Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers are the real deal. Let's take a look at some of the other quarterbacks who are in crucial seasons of their careers. For many of them, they will either take the leap into the upper echelon or stay embedded in the middle of NFL starting quarterbacks.
Matt Leinart, Arizona Cardinals:
In many ways, Leinart is the most obvious quarterback entering a pivotal season. With Kurt Warner now out of the picture, Arizona is his team - for now.
Everyone wants to have Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton, but it's also important to find players on the rise who may have gotten off to a slow start this season. Let's take a look at the top fantasy players who appear to be setup for a huge second half. (Note: all stats are as of July 21.)
5. Rickie Weeks, Second Base, Milwaukee Brewers:
Weeks has been up and down for much of the season, but has really turned it out around recently. After struggling in late April and throughout May, Weeks hit over .300 in June and has carried his success into July.
Now that we are more than halfway through the season, we can see that many of the players expected to have big seasons are doing just that, with a few pleasant surprises to boot. Let's take a look at the position players who have had the biggest impact this fantasy season as of July 20.
5. Vladimir Guerrero, Texas Rangers, Outfield/DH:
Not only is Vlad's season of the most surprising of the year, it's also been one of the very best. Though teammate Josh Hamilton may not be able to catch Miguel Cabrera in terms of total RBIs, Vlad has a legitimate shot.
With the NFL season getting closer to official training camps and the start of the preseason, let's take a look at how the top teams in the league stack up heading into the year.
10. Houston Texans:
The Miami Dolphins are also on the cusp of breaking into the Top 10, though the Texans may be in a better overall position. The Texans' quarterback, Matt Schaub, is already good and getting better and the AFC South isn't terribly difficult outside of the Indianapolis Colts. This appears to be the year the Texans finally break into the playoffs.
9.
The AFC has been the dominant conference for quite a while, though recent developments in the league have potentially tilted the power back in favor of the NFC. Let's take a look at how the AFC might play out this season.
AFC West: San Diego Chargers
It's hard to imagine any team usurping the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers have plenty of issues to work out, from the holdouts of two star players to issues in the secondary, but there really isn't another team ready to challenge.
