Deciding Which Bike is Right for You

August 13, 2010 by ronaldpedactor09

Bicycles can be a form of recreation, a way to get in a good workout, or a means of getting you from one place to another. Before purchasing a bike, first decide how you will be using it.

If you prefer to bike for exercise, there are plenty of options for you to choose from. If you are looking for a way to get a workout and enjoy the outdoors, try researching a mountain bike.

These are made specifically for trail riding and tough terrain. They are sturdy, and should last you a long time if you maintain their upkeep and take good care of them.

Mountain bikes can be used on all different types of trails, whether they are rocky, steep, or uphill. There are biking trails all over in most states, so no matter where you live, you should have no trouble finding somewhere to ride.

If you cannot find any trails and are not afraid of a little adventure, take your mountain bike off-road. However, be sure you know the area well and be wary of any steep drops or dangerous cliffs that may be around.

Another type of bike that can be used for cardiovascular exercise is a road bike. These have thin wheels, a very aerodynamic design, and are used mostly for long distances.

Most road bikes have drop handlebars and do not have many high-tech features, but they are made for comfort and to help you travel for a lengthy period of time.

They are used mainly on paved roads and concrete, and are designed for cardiovascular exercise. If you do not enjoy running or swimming, but are looking for a fun and fast-paced way to get your daily cardio, try purchasing a road bike and taking your workout to the streets.

If you wish to get cardiovascular exercise by biking but, because of health concerns, not enough time, or poor weather, you are unable to do so, try purchasing an exercise bike. This way, you can increase your heart rate and get in a good workout from the comfort of your own home or office.

Exercise bikes are stationary and are built specifically to help you increase your heart rate and get a cardio workout. If you are worried about squeezing daily exercise into your busy schedule, they are extremely beneficial.

The multitasker will find this option to be the best for their lifestyle. Because exercise bikes are stable, if needed, you can both work out and check your email or make phone calls.

They also stay right in your home or office, so you can use them for shorter periods when you have a break in your daily schedule. Exercise bikes also tend to be safer than those you use out of doors.

If you prefer to bike for recreation, you should definitely give the cruiser bicycle a try. Also known as a beach cruiser, you do not need to live anywhere near the ocean to get good use out of them.

These types of cycles have upright seating and are built out of sturdy steel. They are not exactly built for speed, but anyone wishing to go for a relaxing ride around town will find them a very enjoyable form of transportation.

Cruisers are made for durability and functionality. They come in lots of styles and colors, and some even come complete with a bell on the handlebars!

Compared to other styles of bicycle, beach cruisers are also very affordable. They are a good choice for anyone who wishes to have a steady and reliable way to get from place to place.

Those looking for a thrill that have access to more funds may want to look into purchasing some form of motorized bicycle. Though they definitely cost more and can be more dangerous, they get you when you are going quicker.

Scooter bikes give you the option of speed and durability while still offering an enjoyable and relaxing ride. This type of transportation does not need a great deal of gasoline to function, so they are more wallet friendly than an automobile.

Bikes can sometimes be dangerous, and anyone who wishes to purchase one should consider their safety. When riding, you should always be wearing a helmet to protect yourself in case of an accident or disaster.
