NFL Tickets - Brett Favre Rejoins Vikings for One More Season

August 29, 2010 by Stub_Hub

Brett Favre is back in purple and ready to go for the 2010-11 football season. The 40-year-old quarterback has had enough waffling for the offseason and has agreed to rejoin the Minnesota Vikings for one more year, rounding out his 20th season in the National Football League. Favre participated in his first practice with the Vikes on Aug. 18, and he will now lead the Minnesota team through (at least) one final year in the league.

Favre conducted a press conference Aug. 18 announcing his comeback, with ESPN reporting him saying, "I owe it to this organization to give it one more try." The future Hall-of-Famer also joked about his on-again, off-again retirement battles, saying, "I can promise you this: Not that I have ever set out as a goal to play 20 years, it's 20 years and I'm done. This is the last year of my contract. I'm sure a lot of people are like, 'Yes!'" After hesitating a moment, he continued, "Did I just say that? I do believe it now. I'm going to fall apart sometime."

Still one of the best rocket launchers on the field even despite the flecks of gray peppering his hair and years of wear and tear on his throwing arm, Brett Favre is legend and has excited Vikings fans with his final decision to play one more year with the Minnesota team. The quarterback has been set back with an ankle injury this offseason and had been contemplating retirement once again, but instead he will round out a 20-year career in the NFL with another shot for the Vikings to make it to the Super Bowl.

Last year, football fanatics with NFL tickets saw Brett Favre lead the Vikings into the playoffs, falling just short of a Super Bowl berth when Minnesota lost to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC conference championship game. Favre threw 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions last season - an all-time low for the QB - but ended his season with a heartbreaking interception that brought the Vikings just short of a win against the Saints, who went on to win Super Bowl XLIV.

This year, Favre and the Vikings are setting high goals for the season with a focus on a Super Bowl title. Should this really be Favre's last year in the NFL, football fans might expect him to chase any remaining records he hasn't yet secured, but the fact is that Favre has captured just about every record possible for a quarterback in the league - both good and bad. Though he trails John Elway by 13 in the category of most career sacks taken, Favre does hold the league record for most interceptions.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, however, Favre also owns almost every major passing category in the NFL, including most passes, attempts, touchdowns, starts by a quarterback and wins by a quarterback. Bloomberg Businessweek reported Favre talking about this upcoming season and his goals, with the QB saying, "I'm not here to set any records. There's nothing left for me to prove. I'm here to have fun and help these people win. I really enjoy these guys and I think the feeling is mutual."

Brett Favre's last hurrah begins immediately and will conclude with the end of the 2010-11 football season, prompting fans of No. 4 to snatch tickets to Vikings games this season from StubHub.
