For as long as one can remember, the Clippers have been regulars in the lottery. The organization peaked in the heart of the Elton Brand era but is far removed from that team at this point. The Clippers are set to enter a new era now, though, one that shows a lot of promise. Could it be time for the Clippers to alter their identity from lottery regulars to postseason regulars?
When the Clips landed the number one pick in the 2009 draft and used it to select Oklahoma standout Blake Griffin, many viewed it as a potential turning point for the franchise.
If you want to be truly great at billiards, you need to learn how to become one with the pool table. Tables and playing conditions vary considerably, but we have to be able to adjust to whatever conditions we're faced with, and we have to adjust quickly.
To adjust, we just need to look at a few things, and shoot a few "Reference Shots." We have to deal with enormous differences in table size, ranging from 3 x 6 up to 5x 10.
Big pockets are generous.
New Orleans Saints: The Saints are coming off their best season in franchise history, shocking the world and making a run all the way to the Super Bowl, and winning. New Orleans boasts one of the more potent offenses in the National Football League, something that carried the team in 2009. Quarterback Drew Brees runs one of the best passing attacks in the league, one that spreads the ball around and keeps defenses on their toes.
However, the team is hoping to have a more consistent ground assault in 2010.
The Pistons spent half a decade recently as Eastern Conference Finals regulars, winning one NBA Championship along the way, but as is the case with all great teams, that era has come to an end. When the Pistons shipped Chauncey Billups to Denver a couple of years ago, it signaled that the team was ready to move on from the group that had won the title, and the team has been in a transitional phase since.
The two key members of the title team that remain are Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton.
For the last two seasons, the Detroit Lions have been in a rebuilding state, and they have been able to secure some of the top young names in the league. During the 2010 NFL Draft, they used their first round pick (second overall) on defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Suh made headlines during the offseason because of how long it took to negotiate his contract, but his holdout was worth the wait. Suh and the Lions agreed to a five-year deal worth more than $60 million, with $40 million guaranteed.
Just one game into the preseason, the New England Patriots are already dealing with a few serious injuries that have required the Pats to court replacements. One of the reasons that the Patriots are considered one of the perennial powerhouses of the league, though, is their depth, so if any team could survive a series of big injuries, it is the Patriots.
First, the defense took a hit when defensive end Ty Warren decided to get surgery to correct a hip injury, which placed him on injured reserve.
The preseason records of each team mean very little. In fact, when the Detroit Lions set a record for having the first 0-16 season in NFL history in 2008, they had a record of 4-0 in the preseason. Because of this, it is worth analyzing more than just the final score of each team's preseason matchup. The Houston Texans kicked off their preseason on Saturday, Aug. 14 with an away game against the Arizona Cardinals and lost 19-16. Despite the loss, the outing proved promising for the rest of the season. Houston Texans tickets are the best way to be a part of this season's action.
Brett Favre is back in purple and ready to go for the 2010-11 football season. The 40-year-old quarterback has had enough waffling for the offseason and has agreed to rejoin the Minnesota Vikings for one more year, rounding out his 20th season in the National Football League. Favre participated in his first practice with the Vikes on Aug. 18, and he will now lead the Minnesota team through (at least) one final year in the league.
Favre conducted a press conference Aug.
NASCAR is sometimes not dissimilar to "The Jerry Springer Show" - loud, abrasive and with rowdy audiences that cheer on altercations to the point of physical feuds. Tempers often rage during NASCAR races, and with drivers risking their lives to go 200 miles per hour down the stretch of oval tracks and road courses they escalate quickly - and sometimes rightfully so. Part of what draws fans to NASCAR is the "have at it, boys" mentality and physical fights that often result on and off the racetrack, and here are some of the most memorable feuds of the 2010 season so far.

If you want to become a billiards champion, it isn't going to happen overnight. Those who have been successful in the past have become that way due to the practice they put in, and the dedication they have to the sport.
Most of us don't have the raw natural talent to become great players without working at it. If you're good, you practice.
If you want to be good, you practice. You won't be getting better if you're not practicing.
And meanwhile, somebody else, who may beat you in the future, is putting in that practice time.
