August 22, 2010 by tomselwick09

The NBA was formed in 1949, when the Basketball Association of America merged with the National Basketball League. At first there were seventeen teams, but in 1950 they consolidated into 11 teams, and by 1954 there were only eight teams.

Their goal was to have every team playing in an arena in a major American city. They had success with teams in Los Angeles, Boston, and Washington D.C.

In the 50s, the Lakers won 5 championships, becoming the league's first dynasty.

The Perils of Irresponsible Boating

August 17, 2010 by anoton1

Taking on the responsibility of boating bares just as much importance as the getting behind the wheel of a car. Residents of Austin are excited to learn that the Formula One will be coming to the capital city, but few realize just how much effort has been put into bringing the event to the city. In fact, according to documents, the Comptroller Susan Combs met with auto racing promoter Tavo Hellmund more than 20 times since April 2, 2008.

Traditionally, the Formula One event has taken place at exotic locations such as Istanbul, Singapore and Monte Carlo, so having Austin selected as the next location for the event is certainly quite the honor.

NFL Tickets - Fantasy: Ranking the Running Backs

August 17, 2010 by Stub_Hub

Here is how I see the Top 10 fantasy running backs heading into the 2010 season, listed in order:
Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings: Most people are going with Chris Johnson atop their rankings, but I trust Peterson more. Johnson had a heck of a workload in 2009 and is not the biggest of backs; he's only handled a full workload for one season and had a lot of carries in college.

Minnesota Vikings Tickets - Favre Calling It Quits

August 17, 2010 by Stub_Hub

The Minnesota Vikings had a great 2009 season, one in which they were able to secure the NFC North title and make it all the way to the conference title game. Much of that success was due to the presence of quarterback Brett Favre, who experienced resurgence to the tune of 33 touchdowns and more than 4,200 yards passing. However, it looks as though the Vikings will be without the veteran quarterback in 2010, as Favre has decided to retire from the NFL.

We've heard this from Favre before, twice actually, but in this case I believe that the third time will be a charm.

August 17, 2010 by Stub_Hub

Every year, fantasy owners are presented with the opportunity to take a risk on a high-reward player. These players come with both risk and upside, and owners have to weigh each before selecting one of these guys in their draft. Here are some players that do come with some risk, but present considerable upside as well:

Joe Flacco, Quarterback, Baltimore Ravens: Flacco had a solid 2009 fantasy season, but 2010 could be his breakout year.
