Talk to One's Coach
The first thing a person should do is talk to his or her coach. This is a chance to explore all possible softball scholarships and what one can expect from this process. A coach will explain everything from the requirements, such as not accepting gifts from schools, and the coach can explain the likelihood of such funding coming through. This is a chance for the player to talk to someone who has experience with college scholarships. Additionally, a coach may have connections that could help a player secure funding at the school of his or her dreams.

Play as Much as Possible
The key to securing athletic scholarships is play as much as possible. This means that people need to not only play for their schools but also try and attend exhibition games, join leagues, and practice as much as possible. Colleges want to invest in players who are serious, which means constantly refining the craft. Additionally, playing as many games as possible helps people get noticed. After all, scouts are everywhere. A person could get noticed at an exhibition game as much as at their school's games.

Keep Grades Up
A common misconception is that athletes do not have to have high grades. This is not actually true. Schools want scholars who are athletic, because it lessens the likelihood that such people will fail out of college. Keeping one's grades up increases the likelihood of softball scholarships coming to fruition. This doesn't mean that a person has to be a genius.
